Preceding this, she completed one year of internship experience and training in a child and family outpatient community mental health setting. This provider is experienced with providing in-person and remote/telehealth services to clients. This provider also completed two years of volunteer work as a crisis counselor with a crisis and suicide helpline service. Annette also has work experience at an inpatient residential treatment facility for children with trauma and behavioral difficulties, and clinical volunteer experience abroad with culturally diverse populations, children, and individuals with disabilities, as part of a 2-month mental health placement in Sri Lanka and India. As a mental health provider, I see my therapeutic orientation as person-centered, trauma-informed and humanistic. I use a wide variety of therapeutic techniques such as mindfulness and evidence-based practices within treatment, depending on the client’s needs and preferences. Examples of evidence-based practices I utilize include: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I believe that it is absolutely possible for anyone to start this journey for healthy transformation, and to create a more fulfilling life that is worth living.
